Emily F. was one of the first PetSmart associates to use Virtual Dog Training with her adorable, adopted pup, Marlowe. Hear how working one-on-one with an Accredited Trainer online, from the comfort of her own home, helped them both.

PetSmart Area Trainer, Colorado Springs, CO
I found my passion for dog training 14 years ago working with a local rescue. Since then, I continue to be a partner to the rescues in my community to help pets stay in their forever homes. As a knowledge-assessed Certified Professional Dog Trainer, who has completed professional certification in the Fear Free curriculum, I love helping families connect and strengthen their relationship with their dogs through positive reinforcement training. When I'm not helping my students, you'll find me making training videos for PetSmart, on the trails or on the water with my 6 lb. rescue dog Tator Tot.

Trisha C.
PetSmart Area Trainer, Glendale, AZ
Hi, I’m Trisha! I found my love for dog training 9 years ago. My favorite thing about training is teaching pet parents to communicate with their dogs and helping them building a better bond through positive reinforcement. I am an AKC Canine Good Citizen evaluator and encourage as many students as possible to become Therapy Dog Teams to help share the joy. When my demo dog, Tootsie (my 12-year-old Aussie rescue) and I aren’t teaching, you can catch us playing frisbee or experimenting with new tricks and testing out intelligence toys!
Virtual Dog Training conveniently allows you to train in the comfort of your own home or anywhere there’s an internet connection. It’s also a great option for shy or reactive dogs who would not do well in an in-store setting.
Currently, virtual sessions are available across Canada and the United States.
You can purchase a single 30-minute session or 4 sessions.
You can schedule your first session when you book online, and then work with your Trainer to schedule future sessions on different days and at different times if you like.
Yes. Schedule as few or as many as you want per week to meet you and your dog’s needs.
Please call your Trainer at the phone number provided in your confirmation email to reschedule an upcoming session.
Although in-store training classes require pet vaccinations to participate, since Virtual Training is held outside of the store, no vaccinations are required.
You should have your dog on a properly fitted collar or harness and a secure leash, have a variety of bite-sized treats readily available and a few favorite toys. We recommend that you have a treat pouch to keep your treats close and accessible and have your dog’s bed nearby, so they have access to relax during the session as needed.
You can use any device that has internet service, a camera & microphone and can access Zoom. We recommend using a larger device like a tablet or computer rather than a mobile phone. We also suggest using wireless headphones.
We use Zoom.
Each time a session is scheduled, you will receive a meeting invite with a link to join your upcoming session. While you are not required to download the Zoom app, we recommend using it to access key features of the meeting software to maximize your Virtual Training experience.
Yes, and we’ll work with you to make it right – even retaking the session for free – if you’re not satisfied with your results.
